We seek to share the Love of Jesus Christ through worship, service and example.
A very warm welcome to Bispham Methodist Church. Our church is open and accessible to everyone, so whether you would like to worship with us on a Sunday or spend time with friends at our coffee mornings or at one of the many social groups that meet here during the week, you’ll be made most welcome. Bispham is a key part of the local community and also forms part of the Wigan Methodist Circuit.
About Us
Bispham ‘Wesleyan’ Methodist Chapel, as it is described on the inscription above the porch was erected in 1845 by William Holt of Bispham Hall and has remained a much loved church by generations of worshippers. A ‘School Hall’ (the main hall today) was built in 1912 to provide much-needed accommodation for the Sunday School and in 1963, the Primary Hall (the back hall today) was officially opened.
Over the years, both the church and the main hall have undergone major refurbishments. Most recently in church the removal of the pews, the levelling of the floor, the installation of a ramp to assist disabled access and a new kitchen in the vestry have created a much more flexible space for worship and community events. We look forward to welcoming you to our very special chapel.
